Review!

Damián Antón Ojeda has done it again with another surprise dump of new material. With their new stuff they seem to have gone into another new experimental direction, combining their long-format songs with a more shoegazey sound. There isn't a trace of harsh vocals on these new releases, instead the songs all have clean vocals that are pronounced enough to actually understand the lyrics.

The first, and arguably most successful piece, your perfect hands and my repeated words, is possibly the most uplifting, hopecore album released by Damián until now. The riffs are all generally pretty happy, and the sound feels exactly like what falling in love feels like. I would like to point out specifically lowsun bridge for being one of the catchiest and most fun to listen to songs Damián has put out. I love the post-rock à la Explosions in the Sky influence as well in this album. The crescendo in bury your kiss in me is one of the best post-rock style crescendos to come out in recent memory. Definitely another shining moment on the album.

The next, and ever so slightly less successful (but still fantastic!) i want to make something as beautiful as you is more of the same long-form shoegaze. With this album, theres a couple less successful moments, but altogether, this album would be a fantastic album on its own. The only reason I'm not emphasizing this album is mostly just because the former is So Good. The best moment in this album I would say is the 20-minute-long --. In my opinion, if this album was released without Your Perfect Hands and my Repeated Words, this album would definitely have AOTY potential; that's how good it is.

All in all, I think these new releases from Sadness are some of the greatest work that they have ever put out, and I am definitely going to be updating this as I listen to them more, since there is so much detail put into each of these songs!

Contact!

If you ever want to get into contact with me, feel free to message me on RYM or Last.fm. That's where I'm most active as I don't really use social media much anymore :) I'll try to respond as soon as I see the message but forgive me if it takes forever lol

If you have any music recommendations you want to share I would love to see them! I'm always looking for new music and don't really have any specific preferences on what kind. I mostly listen to shoegaze, blackgaze, prog, minimalism and stuff of that nature, but if you have something that you really like I'm always down to give it a listen :)
